Thanks for the dance lessons Don Cornelius

Posted by Katina on February 2, 2012 at 1:14 am

When I was in elementary school, I was teased all the time about my dancing. My own family said I had no rhythm and danced like a bunny rabbit. My mom broke down and got me private dance lessons (that’s how I mastered the two step). But my real dance training came from watching Soul Train. I was heartbroken to hear that Don Cornelius had died. Soul Train meant a lot to me personally, but it also was a milestone for African Americans on television. Here was an outlet where we could see ourselves express ourselves through dance.

Here’s to you Don Cornelius, may you find the peace you were looking for.

Anticipating the Fall 2011 TV season

Posted by Katina on September 21, 2011 at 1:23 am

I love tv almost as much as I love books. The fall tv premiere season is very exciting for me. Seeing my favorite characters return is in some ways like reuniting with old friends. The first thing I want to do is catch up on the gossip.

Does Beckett know Castle is in love with her?

Is Hetty really a long-lost member of a crime family?

Will somebody fire Meredith for her unethical (though well meaning) medical practices?

Will House keep going down the drain now that Cuddy dumped him?

The suspense is killing me. How about you?

I’m sitting here watching Fox 5 DC’s profile on Chuck Brown. It warms my heart that DC’s own has finally been nominated for a Grammy for his song LOVE featuring Jill Scott with Marcus Miller in the category Best R&B Performance By a Duo or Group With Vocals

Wind Me Up Chuck!
